I’ve been using the BooBoo PuréePro 5 in 1 Baby Food Maker and overall, it’s been a helpful bit of kit. If you’re juggling bottles, weaning, steaming vegetables and trying to keep everything clean, this machine does take a bit of the pressure off. I got it mainly to simplify making purées at home and avoid buying pre-packaged baby food all the time, and in that sense it’s done the job.The main functions it offers are all built into one unit, which saves space on the counter and cuts down on the washing up. It steams food quite well and then blends it smoothly enough for a baby who’s just starting on solids. I like that it can handle both cooking and blending without having to move anything around. It also warms bottles and sterilises small items, which is a nice bonus.The self-cleaning feature is probably what I appreciate most. It’s not perfect, and I still give it a proper wash now and then, but for quick cleaning between uses, it makes life a lot easier. That said, you do have to be careful not to let food sit in it too long or it’ll start to build up residue in the corners.One thing I found a bit fiddly is the controls. They work, but the buttons aren’t always as responsive as I’d like, and it’s taken me a few goes to get the hang of the timings for different foods. Also, it’s not silent. If your baby is sleeping nearby, it might not be the best time to use the blender.I wouldn’t call it essential, but it’s definitely useful. It saves time, it’s fairly easy to clean and it covers several bases in one appliance. Just go into it knowing it’s not completely effortless and it’ll still need your attention here and there. For new parents trying to manage everything at once, it can make a big difference in the kitchen.
